The R&D service of MDF Tramagal works in innovation projects of materials and production processes in collaboration with prestigious academic institutions.
R&D projects are developed in collaboration with the German associated company Vautid GmbH, specialist in the area of wear resistant materials. The merit of this research has been recognized in several projects that have earned the support of ADI (Innovation Agency). The variety of ferrous alloys and types of parts in production at MDF Tramagal, highlighted the need to produce better and better, well at first time.
The R&D service has, as a guideline, to reduce production costs, validate feeding and ingating systems, optimize existing processes, with the aim on reducing delivery times. To do this, combines the extensive experience of the Pattern Shop with the application of powerful tools for product development, such as software from Finite Solutions (SolidCAST, FlowCast and OpticCAST) allowing to virtually simulate the processes of filling up and solidification of metal parts and validate the technical aspects of the feeding system, previous to the construction of the pattern. The time involved in the production of prototypes using the methods of trial and error is, thus, practically void and orders arrive earlier and earlier to the client and with greater assurance.
The Pattern Shop has a key role in the quality of castings and rapid response, having skilled professionals that operate with a wide variety of materials such as wood, epoxy resins, polystyrene, ureol and araldite.
The R&D service counts, also, with a 3D modeler, an extremely useful tool for the construction of models for rapid prototyping or CNC machining.
